The cottage is situated in the picturesque conservation village of Blindcrake near the attractive historic market town of Cockermouth. Keswick, a popular visitor destination offering many facilities is just 25 minutes drive. For map directions and location of the cottage please click here. To locate Blindcrake leave the M6 at Penrith J40.Take the A66 past Keswick to Cockermouth, then take the A595 to Carlisle. After just 4 miles take the right hand turn signposted Blindcrake, Isel and Redmain. Pass through Redmain and after just 1 mile turn right before the village green. Ghyll Yeat is the last cottage on the right hand side.

There are interesting museums and a wealth of places to eat and drink. Cockermouth offers a swimming pool and leisure centre.

Local information is available in the cottage. There are comprehensive maps and guides covering the Lake District, Solway Coast, Hadrian's wall and South West Scotland and a section of natural history books and other reading material

There are a number of interesting walks from the cottage over the 'Clints' or alongside the river Derwent. There is good access to the Northern Fells and the beautiful valley of Buttermere.

In contrast the cottage is ideally situated for the Solway coast. There are a number of interesting places to visit. These include bird reserves, Roman remains, Maritime history, museums and Maryport coast aquarium. Coastal walks and miles of cycling on quiet rural lanes.

The nearest local rail station is on the Virgin West coast line and is positioned in Aspatria. This line connects with intercity lines for the North, South and East of the country at Carlisle. For further information	Connections from Aspatria can be made by local taxi services. K Routledge operates a service from Cockermouth	The 600 Service runs between Carlisle and Cockermouth and the X5 service runs between Penrith and Cockermouth. Timetables are available on request.
